When most of us think of Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties the typical things that often come to mind are booze, strippers, shady nightclubs and the dreaded hangover. In the past this has been what it consisted of and it was very much a ‘man’ thing… kind of like a ‘last hurrah before the ‘ole ball and chain’. Of course, there are those who still take part in the above noted ritual but for the most part, those days are (thankfully) not the norm. More and more, couples are opting for more toned-down activities to signify their transition from singlehood to married life.
Another trend we are noticing are that couples are opting to have joint parties. Usually if it’s not your first marriage or you have a ton of couple friends, this is a super-awesome idea. We’ve heard of couples and their friends going away to places like Mexico and the infamous ‘bachelor-party loving’ Las Vegas and even renting out a cottage for the weekend.
For the most part though, this is still a ‘singles’ event. So, grab your friends and wedding party and get on some of these fun outings! Here are our top picks at The PWG.
Striptease, Burlesque, Pole, lap or belly dance classes – Yep you read that right… These very fun and wild classes are becoming increasingly popular and offer a crazy night out with the girls! Reserve the patio for your small party and bring along some fancy cigars or even hire a cigar roller for an added element to your celebration.
Man-Spa – How about starting your ‘Scotland-themed’ evening off even better. Imagine a real old-fashioned hot lather shave, haircut, herbal steam cleanse, which ends with a shoeshine at Truefitt and Hill in the Yorkville area. Depending on the services selected, you can start this in the afternoon with your buddies & head out for dinner & drinks in the evening.
Casino Style gala: Bring Vegas here with a casino party! Host your party with some great Stag Planning Companies that you can find here in the PWG.ca directory. You can hwick great Vegas-themed or mob-style poker & dinner party for the boys.
Whatever you choose to do, drink responsibly and make sure you have a designated driver. Don’t plan your night out the night before your wedding. Ideally your Bachelor/ette party should be 1-2 weeks prior to your wedding.
